Description: A beautiful Japanese Imari (Arita) hexagonal dish, ca. 1850. Dimensions are 9-3/$" from point to point and 1-3/8" deep. The dish has a recessed center and a broad flared lip/rim. This rim is decorated with brocade design in over-glaze enamels and gold gilding. The center is minimally decorated in over-glaze enamels and gold gilding with a design of a flying kirin descending into a courtyard. The base ground is white. The dish rests on a deeply recesssed and rounded foot rim. The underside is painted in under-glaze cobalt-blue with designs of auspicious symbols and concentric rings. Condition Consensus is Exceptionally Fine condition without any injury or repair.
