Description: A fine large and original Japanese Shunga Painting on Silk, ca.1930's. Dimension: (between matting) 21-1/2" wide, 12-3/4" tall. Shunga is sexually explicit 'private' or 'bedroom' art. Most commonly seen in print form. This shunga is an original Japanese watercolor painting on fine silk. As with most shunga paintings and works being for 'private' viewing, the piece is unsigned. This painting depicts an amorous couple (I believe) post coital. The painting is well executed with wonderful expressions and vibrant colors. The silk has a warm ivory-white tone. The painting is matted in what appears to be acid-free matting with 1/2" thick foam-core backing. Condition Consensus: Very Fine condition with no injury or repair, minor foxing in the field which is barely visible (far less visible than in these enlargements which I illuminated with 3200 degree Calvin lights).
