Description: A fine Qing dynasty ribbed porcelain vase with overglaze enamel decoration, Qianlong period, ca. 1736-95. Dimensions: 14cm (5.5") tall. This beautiful small vase is shaped like an unfurled flower bud with an ample bulbous belly and tapered neck. It sits on a short recessed base. The ribbed body is entirely glazed with exception of the foot rim in a light 'sky' blue glaze. The painting depicts a magpie sitting in a flowering peony tree. An auspicious red bat flies near by on the back of the vase. note: This vase was once the provenance of The Chait Galleries, New York.
