Description: An exceptional worm-tracked Song Dynasty, Junyao flower pot, inscribed #3, ca. A.D.960-1279. Dimensions are 5-5/8" tall, 7-5/8" deep, 9-11/16" wide. This junyao piece is heavily 'worm-tracked'. These tracks are visible over the entire interior and exterior surfaces of the flower pot. Worm-tracks are evidence found only on a minority of true Song dynasty junyao wares and cannot be replicated in today's modern electronic kilns. The form of this junyao flower pot is impressive as well. The shape is tall and broad shape, with rounded 6-lobed sides. The flared mouth rim is flat with a raised rim. The pot sits on 4 stubby, brown feet. The thick and runny junyao glaze is predominately purple with shades of violet, blue, red with a brown base. The inner bowl is a wonderful sky blue. The bottom of the pot is inscribed with a numeral '3', signafying this as an imperial piece. The number is theorized to represent the imperial potter's daily assigned artist number, (not the size). The flower pot weighs just a little under 3 lbs. Overall condition consensus is excellent condition without any injury or repair. A truly rare junyao find and one to seriously concider for anyone advanced Oriental art/antiquities collector. auc#2/25
