Description: A very fine Song dynasty Longquan JiTuiPing "Chicken-Leg" earthenware vase, ca.960-1279. Dimensions are 15" tall, 6" widest. A very scarce Longquan piece. This is not to be mistaken for Liao dynasty (ca.916-11224) copies of this shape. Liao potters coultd not match the quality and skill of the Song potters. Their work tended toward being heavier and cruder. Also, their applied glaze normally stopped well above the foot rim.This Song JiTuiPing is tall and narrow with a waisted neck that has an inverted lip. The vase has carved ribs circumventing the entire body. The body is covered with a glassy green glaze that flushes a little beige or cream along the high edges of the ridge lines. The entire vase is glazed with exception to the bottom of the foot which exposes the beige-orange clay. Condition consensus is excellent condition without any injury or damage.
