Description: A beautiful Han dynasty green glazed jar, ca.206BC-AD220. Dimensions: 12cm high and 15.3cm diameter. This masculine jar is well-potted with thick walls. The jar, made of a reddish stoneware, has a short square neck flaring to a slightly convex shoulder with sharp edge and tapering convexly to a narrow foot. The foot is slightly concave. The inner jar and foot bottom is unglazed. The body is covered with a thick green leaded glaze that has metamorphosis to a beautiful silvery patina known as qin. This occurred during the 1000s of years of tomb burial and is indisputable diagnostic evidence of great age. This cannot, even with today's technology be reproduced.
